Grenada Electricity Services, Ltd.
Serving Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique, Grenada Electricity
Services, Ltd. (GRENLEC) has an installed capacity of 36 MegaWatts
and provides electricity for more than 27,000 customers. GRENLEC was
privatized in 1994 through a partnership between WRB, the government
and the people of Grenada. We have upgraded the power plant, purchased
new equipment and retrained the employees. Today we deliver levels
of reliability and customer service unparalleled in the Caribbean
utility sector.
WRB continues to improve GRENLEC facilities with a $12 million program
of capital expansion. Projects include construction of new buildings,
installation of new generating capacity and expansion of existing
plants. With completion in 1999, the capital expansions prepare GRENLEC
to handle economic and population growth well into the next millennium.
